Our mission is to ensure that the General Plan process will be transparent and open to public participation and direction setting in all phases of the process. The new Richmond General Plan should reflect the needs and wishes of the community and be environmentally sound.
The initial General Plan Advisory Committee meeting was held on Wednesday, May 17, 2006.
The meeting lasted over three hours. There were more or less three major sections to this meeting:
The online version is available from this KCRT streaming video page: http://richmond.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=6
Note that Windows Media Player is required.
The replays on KCRT will be Tuesday, 5/23/06 at 10am, and Wednesday, 5/24/06 at 1:00am.
The list of GPAC members is available at the Planning Team page of the City of Richmond General Plan website. The GPAC is subject to Brown Act provisions that it be properly noticed and open to the public. There is no requirement of public participation and there probably will not be any open forum, since a three hour meeting of a 31-member committee is enough of a challenge. The announcement to GPAC members says that refreshments will be served, but probably that would not apply to observers.

Richmond City Council approved the contract for the General Plan update on February 7. Two copies of the project timeline are available from this web site: a JPG file suitable for screen viewing and a 2.1 MB PDF file suitable for printing.
The January 14 kickoff event was quite a success! See description and photos.
